Sir Avan - The Lieutenant

Sir Avan is a veteran knight in service to House Savet, having proven his skill with sword and lance many times. A very practical man, he prefers simple armor and straightforward tactics, regardless of honour or image. This preference was quickly thrown out the window when his 'little lord', Sir Trystrem, picked him for the role of second in command. Avan has since found himself wearing less practical, but more 'heroic', armor, and following his lord around as Trystrem insists on partaking in acts of valour and honour, much to his protectors frustration. Avan has done his best to teach Trystrem that knights are about practicality on the battlefield, but the lesson continues to elude his ever naive commander.

Weapons: Avan is trained in just about everything, but he prefers his lance, longsword, with a dagger for armored opponents.

Armor: Despite a preference for a more practical set of equipment, Trystrem insists on plate with scale backing, even with it's open weaknesses.

Avan cropped up to be the down to earth 'sane man' to help balance out Trystrem's more idealistic view of the world. Trystrem isn't exactly Don Quixote levels of 'own little world', but he does need Avan around to provide a more practical approach to situations, often with a generous helping of sarcasm. In spite of his own reservations, Avan is also the one who usually ends up talking the Savet forces into whatever new mission their lord has. Frustration aside, at the end of the day Avan is still loyal to Trystrem, whom he sees as one of the few nobility actually worth following, and secretly wishes that Trystrem's world view was more accurate than it is.
