NEW RULE

1 min read

Saw someone else do this, seemed like a good idea: NEW RULE for all of you soliciting commissions in notes, comments, and messages: YOU came to ME, so IF I decide to even consider it, I WILL NOT be paying up front. You started it so IF anything is to happen you will have to deliver first so I know you're not looking for a quick buck then running.

Okay, so, update time.

It's been an enormous amount of work, and not the greatest results. I've got 9 usable shield pieces, and one visor. I've got 50 yards of elastic in the mailbox, which I can't get near because my neighbors are treating this as one giant party time, and a couple hundred plastic paper holders that are about ready to come out of quarentine which I intend to make into the actual shield part.

As for the printer, after an incredible amount of frustration, I finally have a replacement motherboard which will hopefully put an end to this, at least according to Monoprice's tech support. With current events, I have no idea when it will come in, but here's hoping when it's in it'll solve the last of the problems. The good news is, when it's done, I've figured out and confirmed a way to cut the original print time in half to approxamately 2 hours. I'll test running it faster when it's operational again, but at least as of the last operational print that was as quick as I could get it going without print problems.

I've also decided to bite the bullet, and take a risk on getting a new printer on credit. It's a Mega-S, and at least says it'll be in on Saturday, instead of sometime between May and June, though again who knows if that's accurate. I normally wouldn't jump into that on credit, especially in such times, but I'm comitted to producing these shields. I have already been talking to a doctor to make sure I'm producing shields they can use, and he was thrilled at the idea of having even a few, so while I have the ones here already in works to deliver, I definitly want to keep making more.

Honestly though, at this point I am gonna ask people to check out the free section of the support page. www.nik60vids.com/support I wouldn't put stuff out that I don't personally use myself, and any bit of help would really be appreciated.

Alright, that's it for now, I hope you all are well, and I'll catch you in the next update. Stay safe, and take care!

Hey, I know I'm like NEVER on here, but you never know who'll see this.

First of all, I hope you're well and safe. The situation in the world is crazy, and I wish everyone the best and that you can weather this with as little impact on yourself as possible.

The reason I'm posting this is, I've begun 3D printing face shields that I hope to provide to hospitals and other in-need people. I have limited resources at the moment, but I'll be printing as many of these as I can, and they're a simple design. You print the base portion, then use any clear plastic sheet as the shield, and an elastic band, cloth, or even rubber bands, as the headband to keep in place. That's it, basic enough you can use office supplies to finish it. Anyone interested in them can go here, as NIH has a nice library of face shields, as well as masks and other good protective gear: 3dprint.nih.gov/discover/face-…

As for me, I'll keep making what I can. Obviously your first priority needs to be yourself, family, and friends, but if anyone can spare the support, here's links to my website and patreon. My website even includes some free ways to help, so please check it out!

Again, be safe, and wishing you the best, Nik

So I've actually managed to keep at least somewhat active here, even if my inbox still hates me. Well, I suppose I might ass well actually explain what's going on with the flood of characters. This will cover most of them, there's plenty of other stuff going on as well, but by far the majority of what's been upload have been involved in one primary project:

I'M WRITING A NOVEL!

These characters will be featured mostly in a large medieval fantasy story that I'm assembling, hopefully for actual publishing. There's side stuff as well, background, characters, mini-stories. It's actually gotten to the point where I've decided to write my own compendium a-la Silmarillion style. While some stuff is going up free here, even more is going up on Patreon, be it early access looks, or even some patron only goodies. I've been pushing hard to keep up the momentum, which is why so many character pics, so expect me to invest in plenty more
(artists open for comms plz post a comment).

In spite of this huge rush, it is a pretty big thing, especially with a lot of what I want to do with it, so anyone wanted to get a look at upcoming plans, extras, ect, I would seriously appreciate you heading over to Patreon. I'm planning on adding even more extras soon as well, since that covers all my endeavors, so it won't just be novel related goodies. What some of those are though you'll have to wait and see~

The other big thing going on is, while I never /really/ closed them, it's been so long that I guess I do have to
'reopen' my own written commissions. In spite of being in the process of writing a book, it's surprising to find that writing something else doesn't actually seem to hinder that much, just as my fanfic accounts. So, as a good means to help bolster my novel related budget, so in the true spirit of being a writer I'm now trying to use writing to pay for my writing. Enjoy that circular logic for a bit.

Pricing related ramblings:

Because of the nature of writing, I'm going to post average prices, which will vary both higher AND lower depending on length and content. Certain material, like explicit content, will tend towards the higher end of the spectrum, but you'll know before I start what to expect.

-5~7 USD per 1k words on average for straight up written work, paragraphs of story/description/ect.

-Rest of the list to come when I average out some good ballparks, but feel free to ask about whatever you're thinking since just because it isn't here doesn't mean I won't/can't do it, just that I need to hammer out the details.

The minimum for anything is 3 USD. Fees make it hard to go lower, and that's already losing a lot.

If you are wanting to pay with points. I am using the conversion rate of 100 points = 1 USD. I am aware that is not actually the conversion rate, but I do not believe that I can convert them without core
(which I don't want), which still takes out a chunk when withdrawn, and they are otherwise only usable on dA. Consider the extra a convenience fee.

Still Alive

2 min read
Just....crap at staying active, and that's even when I have a number of things I could actually upload...yeah I'm gonna get on that.

I'll admit, I'm mostly writing this 'cause step 1 to trying to be more regularly active means getting that old journal off my front page. That copyright stuff is still VERY important, but not really why people show up here.

Really, I'm far more active on youtube, heck even streaming on my beam.pro/nikolai60 , though that needs more life to.

Actually, speaking of streaming, there's a couple things going on.

I'll start with the second.

I'm gonna be streaming Divinity: Dragon Commander soon, not set date but it's coming up. The game involves a LOT of decisions to run your empire, which is far less boring that it sounds. So what I'm gonna do is run the empire based on the whims of the chat, and we'll see what kind of empire people create.

Now, the first:

I'm sure you've heard of Overwatch, yeah Pokemon Go has taking some of the steam out of it but it's still big, and still new enough to welcome new competitive teams. Why do I bring that up? Well, I just so happen to be working on heading up one of those teams. We just need 2 people to be set for a start from a team point of view, what we /really/ need though is sponsors, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I'll try to do a more detailed explanation of how professional gaming works and why sponsors in a later journal, but for now that's just a brief notice.

That's really what's going on atm, beyond jobsearching, though of the team works out that solves that problem hehe. So, how've people been?
